Purchased this on my trip to Japan in fall 2024. On the nose this presents really nicely. A classic Hampden, with esters prominent but not completely overpowering, which allows the complexity to shine through. tropical fruit, vanilla, wood, esters and hints of solvent, leather and tobacco are all there to be found. The rum has a buttery character as well. On the palate esters and overripe pineapple lead but without being completely wild - I would say this is in the mid to mid-low ester side of things for a Hampden. Again this allows the wood, light spice, vanilla to balance it out. There is a creaminess to this super pleasant HD offering. Big fan - happy I was able to get my hands on one.
