This distillery stopped distilling 1996. Nowadays they buy the distillate from Barbados. So what they do now is blending and bottling. Hopefully they also age the rum otherwise they must use additives, cause I can’t recognize this as a Bajan rum.
A round nose. Raisins, banana and vanilla with coffee, oak and a subtle rose petal note in the background. A very spicy palate. The fruit and floral notes from the nose are gone. Replaced with baking spice, black pepper and cumin, some caramel sweetness. The finish is dry with lots of roasted nuts. Surprisingly long for a 40% rum. Overall, it's not really for me. An interesting nose and it's easy drinking but the palate is too spicy.
Slightly better than Westerhall #7.
