Holmes Cay Long Pond Jamaica ITP
The "Jamaica ITP" was produced in Jamaica at the Long Pond distillery. It was selected and bottled by the independent bottler Holmes Cay. It was distilled in 2007 from Molasses with a Pot Still and then aged for 15 years. The rum is bottled at cask strength and has an ABV of 56% and the mark is ITP. 2 community members rated this rum with an average of 8.2/10. The rum smells like Burnt sugar, Molasses and Oak, and on the palate there is Oak, Spice and Toasted.

Somehow this is my first time trying a run from the Long Pond distillery and it was overdue. Right away, the nose lets you know that this is a Jamaican rum but it’s not the high ester, wild variety. This one is more tame but with all the hallmarks. Rounder, oaky, burnt sugar and molasses notes on nose and palate. There are overripe tropical fruits present here but not in the explosive way that some would expect from a Jamaican rum. There is some bitterness and heat on this one - not overwhelmingly so but noticeable. Nice solid rum and look forward to other Long Pond expressions.
