Vers Clarendon
This is a Clarendon of the milder kind... in this respect also without rough edges. More for newcomers to the Clarendon world... For me personally, it's too one-dimensional and doesn't leave a lasting impression
Unspectacular Clarendon
The rum is very pale in the glass despite its great age. In my opinion, the nose is more in the direction of young Clarendons. Glue and fruit brandy (apple, baked apple) are my first impressions. The palate is surprisingly intense despite the reduction. I mainly perceive spice and barrel notes. Unspectacular finish with spice and barrel, becoming drier. Good rum but in no way special for me. Not at all comparable to the Fine Spirits 1997 Clarendon.
Ester and glue dominate the nose right at the start. After a short time, however, tropical fruits take over, and after 10 minutes in the glass you have the feeling of having a basket full of ripe tropical fruits in front of your nose. Over time, a little toffee and caramel join in. On the palate there is an immediate explosion of fruit, it's really amazing how this fruit bomb hits. The alcohol is well integrated, but at 46% it's not too high either. But in my opinion, that's all it needs. The fruity taste lingers on the palate for a very long time. A really nice rum that I wouldn't have expected after smelling it for the first time. Definitely needs some time in the glass, but then a worthy Jamaican.
