M&G Santo Antao Grogue Velha
The "Grogue Velha" was produced in Cap Verde at the Santo Antao distillery. It was selected and bottled by the independent bottler M&G. It was distilled in 2020 from Sugar cane juice and then aged for 1 years 6mo. The rum is bottled at cask strength and has an ABV of 43,7%. This is a limited release and there are only 900 bottles. 3 community members rated this rum with an average of 7.5/10. The rum smells like Sugarcane, Anise and Funky, and on the palate there is Elegant, Mild and Smooth.

Visiting Cabo Verde soon. This is part of a pre-investigation of their sugarcane juice rhum called Grogue. I tried a few (Sodade)..let's see how this is. N: A very pleasant smell. Hint of funk. Some cognac/french oak with a bit of bourbon. Creamy. Nicely layered. Aniseed. Avocat liquor. T: Gentle. Very gentle. Obviously sugarcanejuice. Honey. A bit earthy. Raisins. Could do with a bit more power. A very shy rhum. Not bad. Will try again soon.
Tres crémeux, flan caramel, pas passionnant, on perd trop le côté sauvage du grogue.
