Flavorful , despite the lower proof. This is the first Guadalupe rum I’ve tried, and it’s really made me want to seek out more rum from this archipelago. It is extremely floral on the nose, definitely the best aspect of this rum. Because of the column still and the lower proof, I suspect, this rum is a little thin on the palette. Still, this is a great example of a molasses based rum from Guadalupe. Overall, very enjoyable.
Tastes like agricole. Perfume, vanilla, coconut. Not a lot of caramel, this body comes off a little thinner. Pale golden in colour. Some wood chips in the finish. Flight of Transcontinental rums at Castas.
Guadalupe comes from the Spanish adopted Arabic word wadi meaning river and the spanish lupe meaning wolf. Just kinda cool. This rum is very alright to me. It lacks the funkiness that I personally enjoy, but is still an approachable sipper for someone who likes rum but doesn’t like how weirdly funky some of them can get. Its got a dry, almost Brüt like finish that is dry and fruity.
