The "Jamaica Rum" was produced in Jamaica at the Clarendon distillery. It was selected and bottled by the independent bottler Gregarious Grump Spirits. It was distilled in 2004 from Molasses with a Pot Still and then aged for 17 years. The rum is bottled at cask strength and has an ABV of 68,4%. NOSE: overripe fruits, coconut milk, warm sawn oak, pastry crust, fungus, mild sandalwood. PALATE: sweet spice cake with coconut-cream cheese frosting, cardamon, clove, nutmeg, cinnamon, overripe pineapple, flamed bitter orange peel. FINISH: dark pastry crust, sweet chamomile, raisins, seasoned firewood, copper, oak tannins… then dominated by dry oak. OVERALL: another oak-dominated barrel from Gregarious Grump. Loads of bitter oak tannins & rich spice, but somewhat balanced by nice sweet overripe tropical fruit & floral notes. The proof is high, and it won’t let you forget it. Water brings out some cigar notes, and a bit of dark cherry. These GG really feel like they were selected for the bourbon lover. RATING: 76/100
