Brugal 1888 Doblemente Añejado
A solid, smooth Spanish-style rum: woody sherry notes, caramel and vanilla, easy to drink and broadly appealing, though some find it too sweet, light and lacking in depth or finish.
The good thing about this rum is that it has not been excessively sugared, like many other rums from this category. However, it is not particularly praiseworthy at first sight because of the alcoholic note, but if you give it a little time, you get a wonderfully woody sherry nose. In addition, caramel and some fruit. In the mouth then even the dark flavors dominate, which makes this rum something special.Read more

Auto-translatedVery good and smooth, best drank neat
21.12.2025 Having a friend over who is not up to the heavier stuff, so we run through a few lighter rums. This is still my wifes favourite baking rum. ---------- This is a rum that can be rated incorrectly because it is unique in its own way. Initially I rated this rum very low until I found out that it needs to rest for a long while and not only rest standing still. You need to hand warm it and around 25 degrees C. the rum really opens up. The sherry cask and oak is very obvious from nose to finish. The rum was first released in 2011 and its a rum in the cheap end. Price to quality is very good.
Decent when drank cold, but as mentioned in many reviews really comes alive when warmed in the hand. Wonderfully smooth very easy to drink, simple pallet but with discerning flavours of sherry and oak, very pleasant rum to sip. The more you sip the better it gets.
