Swell de Spirits Savanna HERRLINE No. 2 (Selected by Swell de Spirits) TH1 2017

Strong tropical fruit like papaya, mango, and peach dominates the nose, along with olive notes and floral freshness. The alcohol is well integrated, so the profile feels clean despite the cask strength. On the palate, the fruit takes center stage, supported by fine ester notes, herbal spice, and a light wood touch. The finish is long, warm, and rather dry with a subtle herbal and olive hint.

That nose 😍 I love that delicate, sweet scent of tropical flowers and fruit, paired with the delicious strawberry gum... On the palate, however, there is some disillusionment, with spicy notes, some wood and noticeable alcohol dominating at first. As it progresses, the aromas of the nose reappear, albeit not as intensely. The finish then combines the fruity with the spicy aromas

9,2:On the nose, esters and varnish, fermented, overripe, even rotten, pungeant strawberry, tropical fruits like maracuja, banana, pineapple, passion fruit, yellow fruits like peaches and citrus fruits, molasses with briny olive, grassy, roasted wood notes with like caramel, confectionery, bump into our nosetrils. On aeration, medicinal notes like rubber, glue arise, sourness, bitter orange, very marmelade feeling, the wood is smoky, spicy with allspice, confectionery is caramelized, mol becomes flowery, minty. 9:On the palate, the attack is intense, pungeant with overripe strawberry, slightly rotten, tropical fruits like maracuja, passion fruit, papaya, pineapple, briny olive and tomatoes, medicinal with esters, sweet with roasted wood notes like milk chocolate, perhaps cocoa, caramelized, perhaps like creme brulee, pastry, slightly smoky and spicy with vanilla and allspice, as the molasses is flowery, minty, grassy, still vegetal.When the rum is well oxidized, citrus fruits, dried apricots and peaches join. 8,9:The finish is less complex, less round, dry and tannic, as the roasted wood notes from palate, smoky and spicy, pair minty molasses and overripe tropical fruits, peaches, perhaps candied fruits. Lots of fermented overripe tropical fruit on the nose... Chewing gum and fruit esters. Slight mint and olive touch not at all disturbing. Minimal oak with vanilla. On the palate strawberry gum esters tropical fruits very ripe fruits . Slight hint of hokz. Wonderfully balanced . Very tasty .

Intense and brutal on the nose. Lots of esters and (Savanna) funk. Lots of menthol bonbon and strawberry alongside olive grime and salt. Compared to the HERRLINE 1 this one feels a bit more fresh and a bit less woody/spicey. Both of similar high quality and HERR goodness. I slightly prefer the No. 1 in this sitting. On the palate I get a rather complex tropical fruit basket. There are plenty of esters with some milk chocolate and sweetness as well as salt at the same time. All in all the blend of HERR and C20 works pretty well forming a nice overall profile. However, for me No. 2 can not quite hold up to its predecessor due to a lack of intensity (and HERR power). Moreover, it also isn’t as well balanced and round as some of Savanna’s GAs (today’s bottling as a side by side: RX11969). All in all: very nice bottling but not quite in the top league of what Savanna can produce.

Ein Hammer Rum, der seinem Vorgänger fast in nichts nachsteht. In Nase und Gaumen HERR-liche Savanna typische Esteraromen, welche sich mit einem breiten Bouquet aus tropischen Früchten, Oliven und Erdbeere vermischt. Im Nachgang leider etwas flach, wodurch der Vorgänger die Nase vorne hat. Dennoch ein erstklassiger Rum! Edit: im nochmaligen Vergleich insgesamt nicht so wuchtig wie sein Vorgänger. Geschmacksprofil etwas bitterer und nicht so fruchtig

Leckerer Savanna Blend aber insgesamt. Der Grand Arome Anteil ist erkennbar aber der traditionelle Anteil und die Cognac Fass Reifung sind recht dominant. Im Abgang dann ein schönes Wechselspiel aus Kakao, reifen satten Pfirsichen und Erdbeer Kaugummi. Entwickelt sich durchs Atmen besser mit der Zeit und der Grand Arome kommt zum Schluss doch gut zur Geltung.

Only the length is lacking for a grand finale! Otherwise, in my opinion, my favorite Herrline. A mix of fruit, fat, salty notes, chocolate, pastry notes, a pinch of wood, but above all exceptional greediness and insane fatness.

Savanna triple tasting: on the nose similar olive notes to the brothers 991 and herrline no 1, but here more papaya than pineapple. On the palate, perhaps really the apricot. A really great rum and my favorite of the triple.

Savanna Masterclass III. Dieser Herrline ist echt herausragend. Sehr fruchtig, vor allem tropische Früchte lassen sich erkennen. Ansonsten gibt es noch viel Ester und vor allem Erdbeere, diese überstrahlt alles.

Jammern auf hohem Niveau fällt mir hier als erstes ein. Der ist schon nicht allzu schlecht, aber der erste Herrline von Swell war schon einen ticken besser. Nichtsdestotrotz schon auf sehr hohem Niveau.

👃 Whaou quel nez! Je suis aux anges 😇 Magnifique combinaison d'esters made in Savanna, de yaourt à la fraise, de menthe fraîche poivrée et de meringue maison qui sort du four. Beaucoup de fruits surmûris avec cette sensation chimique. Papaye, fruits de la passion, bonbon Tutti Frutti, tête brûlée à la pomme verte, fraise Tagada, Malabar original, banane Haribo. Vanille en sachet, Notes d'épices salées, olive verte, tapenade à la menthe, léger bacon. Un nez absolument dingue 🤩 😋 L'exubérance du nez ne se retrouve pas assez en bouche, c'est son point faible. Les saveurs, quasiment identiques au nez, sont assez légères. Esters fruités et chimiques, fermentation lactique goût fraise, fleurs d'arbres fruitiers, levure boulangère de pâtisseries, boisé épicé et pimenté, légère fraîcheur de boisson de thé à la pêche. Mention aux 59.5% très bien intégrés, ils paraissent beaucoup moins en bouche. ⛳ De longueur moyenne donc trop courte, chaude, amère, sèche. Fruits tropicaux légers, cacao pimenté, boisé vanillé chimique, pêche glacée à la menthe. 💡 Ce Th1, blend de rhum traditionnel de mélasse et d’une petite quantité de HERR (High Ester Rum Réunion) livre un excellent nez, vraiment excellent. Dommage que la bouche soit juste très bonne et la finale un peu trop courte. Sinon on aurait eu un des meilleurs high ester de Savanna.

Really very fruity on the nose, I find yellow and also tropical fruits. Surprisingly sweet and fruity on the palate. A full, not only tropical fruit basket, but compared to the HERRLINE #1 it is not as "pressing" or not as intense, but rather a little lighter/smoother - which was to be expected, as this is not a pure HERR. I find the note of TicTac Wintergreen, which is often typical of Savanna, only slightly on the palate and especially in the finish. The alcohol is very well integrated, this really is a very tasty, smooth, elegant and at the same time complex rum. HERR apologists may be a little disappointed because the esters don't push as hard as in HERRLINE #1, but for me both are on the same high level. Nevertheless, the high price (175€ issue price for a 0.5L bottle - lol) remains a downer, and there's no need to go into the dizzying secondary market prices. Do you have to chase after this (admittedly very tasty) rum at these conditions? I don't think so.
