Savanna L’Absolu 2024

Very great rum, harmonious and balanced. Excellent mix of fruit, caramel, chocolate, nuts and spices. In the mouth, many tart and dry barrel influences as well as dark berries. The roasted aromas are also pleasant.

Un rhum goûté au Whisky Live à Paris en 2024 et dégustation des Savanna high ester. Des fruits trop mûrs au nez, des fruits rouges avec de la banane, du végétal et un boisé léger. La bouche est vive et complexe avec les mêmes arômes qu’au nez avec en plus une sorte de bonbon aux herbes amères (Ricola) et des herbes sèches. Du caramel brûlé et des pâtisseries en finale viennent égayer les herbes sèches et le végétal. Je le trouve bien meilleur que le Unshared Cask pour la France 2024.

More "grown-up" than the L'Absolu. More power (in a positive sense) and roastier/darker on the palate. Alcohol is very well integrated. Very balanced with a complex mix of fruit (strawberries, grapes) and barrel influence. The HERR component gives a great kick at the back.

Savanna Masterclass by RumX on 27.09.2024 Thank you for the opportunity to taste these great rums side by side. Now there have been a few more changes for some. Savanna is more complex than expected.

Nachverkostung Masterclass Savanna High Ester. Dieser ist anders wie die beiden ersten. Den Fasseinfluss hat man direkt in der Nase, außerdem sehr würzig und er hat einen Cognacgeruch. Am Gaumen auch holzig und würzig, sowie etwas Leder. Ein top Rum.

partial post-tasting Masterclass Savanna 2024: Nose: vegetable juice Palate: spicy Finish: long Conclusion: Very solid. Significantly better than the Savanna Unshared Cask for Germany 2024 (RX21868) tasted directly before. But there is no way I would spend 200 EUR on this rum.

Rarely have I experienced such an extreme contrast between nose and taste. The nose is very sweet, with notes of strawberry jelly babies, caramel, grape jelly and a hint of olive. The palate is much drier and woodier than expected. Oak wood and the cognac barrel, as well as the tannins and wine notes from the Muscat wine come through and complement the aroma of yellow stone fruit. Some violets and strawberry on the finish and very elegant. Personally, the influence of the Cognac is a little too strong for me. Nevertheless, a very successful blend! Overall more complex than its predecessor absolu but less easy sipping.

Savanna High Ester Masterclass. Cool that we could try the new 2024 version of l'Absolu. Great matured blend with a great nose. On the palate, it's a little less powerful, but for me it's better than the 2023.

8,7:On the nose, the first impression we get are esters, overripe tropical fruits like pineapple, banana, strawberry, smoky&spicy wood with caramel, cognac touch with dried figs, raisins, currants, gooseberry, as the molasses brings an olive. On aeration, there are strong grapes, allspice, some leather and the currants are dried. 8,5:On the palate, the attack is fruity and woody with peaches, overripe strawberry, dried fruits like currants, raisins, as the wood is roasted, dry with caramel, nougat, nuts, leather.The molasses is vegetal, waxy with dark licorice, a bit herbaceous.The tannins coming out are quite strong, bitter.Tropical overripe fruits are stronger after resting the rum with melon also. 8,4:The finish is long with dry&spicy, tannic roasted wood notes, a bit resinous, unpleasantly bitter, the molasses is vegetal, earthy with the olive, the fruits are dried and overripe...

Guter Rum. Die 2023 Abfüllung hatte mir zwar noch etwas besser gepasst aber dennoch ein guter Rum. Pflaume, Trockenfrüchte und das parfümige von Tabak mit etwas Traubenzucker und grünem Pfeffer. Liest sich wild, passt aber gut.

Savanna Masterclass High Ester: This L'Absolou is very much on the elegant spicy side and a great introduction. I like the balance between the spice and the gentle fruitiness. The alcohol is well integrated and the finish is slightly tannic.

A savanna easy sipper with a certain kick thanks to the HERR component. The alcohol is well integrated and the balance is the greatest strength of this rum. Fruity, woody, sweet, chocolaty, smooth on the palate and yet somehow with astringent peaks. The finish is of medium length. The cask influence is very strong. I like it very much!

On the nose the HERR component is clearly noticeable, displaying menthol notes as well as overripe fruits. With some time to breath, the nose presents itself a more balanced yet still very fruity and powerful. Dark and quite dry on the palate without getting to extreme. Wood, leather, backing spices and some fruits. Very nice.

#4945 27.09.2024 Tasting with representatives from Savanna while streaming to the RumX community. Nose Light, faint wood, olive, strawberry, floral, faint mint, citrus, light licorice. Palate Balanced, light, light wood, olive, light strawberry, light salty, floral, light menthol, light licorice, medium dry, light citrus, light raisin. Finish Medium to long, medium dry, light wood, fruits, light olive, faint salt, light floral, light licorice, light citrus.

Seconde édition de l’Absolu, ce Savanna propose un nez équilibré, rond et très charmeur. Si on retrouve le boisé et les épices typiques du genre (vanille et piment notamment), les notes de raisin, de fraise, de cassis et de cognac apportent une très belle dimension fruitée aux narines. Le nez se veut exotique, gourmand et intense à souhait. En bouche, le rhum délaisse un peu la douceur et se pare d’une astringence plus marquée. Il y a une dimension bien plus rôtie et fumée également qui redonne du caractère au palais. Le profil devient plus vineux, sec et tannique, mais conserve le fruité du nez (avec l’ananas en prime) pour garder une forme d’opulence. Il y a une très belle association des saveurs. L’alcool est très bien intégré. La finale est longue, très tannique et conserve sa richesse aromatique. La fraise trop mûr et les épices (piment, vanille, réglisse) se maintiennent avec les notes rôties et le chêne. Une touche d’olive fait son apparition pour élargir le spectre aromatique. Une très jolie sélection réunionnaise, très agréable et évolutif. Comparé à l’édition 2023, ce Savanna est plus direct, plus solide et opulent sur ses arômes.
