Chairman‘s Reserve Master’s Selection (Distillers Direct & the Drinks Trust) 2005

How does Chairman‘s Reserve Master’s Selection (Distillers Direct & the Drinks Trust) 2005 taste?
Serious St. Lucia with a medicinal twist
If you already like JD1/V Saint Lucia profiles, this is a drier, slightly leaner take that keeps the medicinal-woody character but turns up the alcohol bite.
Those sensitive to alcohol heat, newcomers to neat high-ABV rum, or drinkers expecting lush sweetness and big fruit like some other acclaimed Chairman’s 2005 releases.

I'm Oliver – together with Jakob, Robert, and Lukas, we started RumX in 2018 as a small passion project in Stuttgart, back then under the name Rum Tasting Notes.
What began as a digital tasting diary is now the world's most comprehensive platform for rum fans: over 25,000 bottlings, 280,000+ independent reviews, and an active community with 51,000 members. We combine the collective intelligence of our community with an integrated marketplace, allowing you to shop securely and manage your collection directly from the app.
The goal? To offer you, the rum connoisseur, a place where you can choose with confidence—without paperwork, detours, or expert jargon.

Usually these releases are pretty good, but this one is a bit out of balance. The workshop is there and som are th fruits once rested. The curtains are beautiful and slow and the empty glass is nice and has nuts and iodine to it.
Once again a St. Lucia where I can't understand the bad reviews. JD1 &V is simply a great profile, period. Nevertheless, this is one of the weaker barrels, lacking a little depth and fruitiness. All in all, however, a very good rum at a killer issue price.
